- Use clear and kind words.
- Listen carefully to what others are saying.
- Make eye contact and show you’re interested.
- Use “I” statements to express your feelings (e.g., “I feel happy when…” or “I don’t like it when…” ).
- Ask questions to understand things better.
- Take turns talking and give everyone a chance to speak.
Fun and Games:
Learning to communicate can be fun! Here are some activities to try:
- Play charades to act out words or emotions.
- Have family story time and take turns adding sentences.
- Make up funny faces and guess each other’s emotions.
- Draw pictures and tell stories about them.
- Practice role-playing different situations, like asking for help or resolving a conflict.
