Greetings, tiny word wizard! 🧙‍♂️

Wondering why we say “cat” when we see one and “cats” when there are several? Greetings from the wonderful realm of singular and plural nouns!

Let’s use adorable animals, goofy examples, and simple principles to make grammar learning enjoyable!

🐾 What Are Nouns?

Let’s start with the definition of a noun. 👉 A noun is a term used to name an individual, location, creature, or object.

Dog, book, school, sister, and dessert are a few examples.

Let’s now discuss how to determine whether there is only one or more!

✨ Singular Nouns: Just One!

A singular noun means there is only ONE of something.

  • One dog 🐶
  • One apple 🍎
  • One toy 🧸
  • One friend 👧

We don’t add anything special to singular nouns—they are just as they are!

🌟 Plural Nouns: More Than One!

A plural noun means there are TWO or MORE of something.

  • Two dogs 🐶🐶
  • Five apples 🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎
  • Many toys 🧸🧸🧸
  • Lots of friends 👧👦👩👨

How do we make a noun plural? Great question!
